We take all too lightly the term "Word of God"
Behold, what you have in your possession are the very words of God Himself. Behold His very nature and character. Fully love. Fully just. Fully merciful, gracious and true. Behold how He is revealing Himself to you. Understand the blood that was shed over these Words. What a joy. What an honor.
“All scripture is breathed out by God…” 2 Timothy 3:16
“God’s purpose for my life was that I have a passion for God’s glory and that I have a passion for my joy in that glory, and that these two are one passion.”
—Jonathan Edwards
“In all our wanderings the watchful glance of the Eternal Watcher is evermore fixed upon us—we never roam beyond the Shepherd’s eye. In our sorrows he observes us incessantly, and not a pang escapes him; in our toils he marks all our weariness, and writes in his book all the struggles of his faithful ones. These thoughts of the Lord encompass us in all our paths, and penetrate the innermost region of our being. Dear reader, is this precious to you? Then hold to it. The Lord liveth and thinketh upon us, this is a truth far too precious for us to be lightly robbed of it. If the Lord thinketh upon us, all is well, and we may rejoice evermore.”
—Charles Spurgeon (via abideinhislove)
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
—Hebrews 12:1-3 (via mighty2save)
“My friends, be audacious with your hope. Never believe that the world can’t change. Never believe that you can’t change. Picture our hero, Joan of Arc, the patron saint of the dark horse — the 16-year-old, illiterate, cross-dressing, clairvoyant farm girl leading men into battle. Listen to her adolescent voice calling out, “I am not afraid… I was born to do this.”
